DML Morning Briefing Fri. Nov. 26: The new ‘variant,’ smash-and-grab, the latest ‘woke’ corp, and more…

By Team DML

Today is November 26 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion.

1 – Countries Implement Travel Restrictions As New Coronavirus Variant Identified In South Africa
The Daily Caller reports: Countries are implementing travel restrictions after what’s believed to be the most mutated coronavirus variant yet appeared in South Africa this week.

The variant, currently called B.1.1.529, will likely be named by the World Health Organization (WHO) sometime Friday, the BBC noted. The WHO has warned against making quick decisions based on this emerging variant and this isn’t the first variant to emerge throughout the pandemic. The U.S. and other countries dealt with the delta variant’s emergence over the summer.

“At this point, implementing travel measures is being cautioned against,” WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said at a U.N. briefing in Geneva, according to Reuters. “The WHO recommends that countries continue to apply a risk-based and scientific approach when implementing [curbs].”

Still, some countries are already concerned. The U.K., Singapore, the Netherlands and Japan are among those already banning flights from South Africa and countries nearby, and some are also beginning to implement strict quarantine rules, the BBC noted. The EU  is pushing for a flight ban from the area.

DML: Here they go again.  They NEVER intend fo this to end!

2 – California Apple store hit in latest smash-and-grab in broad daylight
Fox News reports: A Northern California Apple store was targeted by thieves Wednesday in the latest smash-and-grab theft as mobs continue to commit brazen burglaries on retail shops in several U.S. cities.

Four suspects walked into the Apple store just after 11:30 a.m. in Santa Rosa, 55 miles north of San Francisco, and stole more than $20,000 worth of merchandise in broad daylight in front of customers and staff, authorities said.

They fled in a vehicle and ranged in age from 14 to 18 years old, the Santa Rosa Police Department said. They were wearing black clothing and masks.

Hours after the Apple burglary, five suspects in Los Angeles stole about $25,000 worth of merchandise from a Nordstrom inside the Westfield Topanga mall and used bear spray on a security guard. On Monday, another Nordstrom at a popular shopping and entertainment complex east of downtown Los Angeles was targeted when suspects used a sledgehammer and other tools to break in.

DML: Welcome to the Democrats’ lawless America.

3 – Two NYPD Officers Shot in Struggle with Bronx Gunman
Breitbart reports: Two NYPD officers were shot and wounded in the Bronx after responding to a call of a man with a gun Wednesday evening. Both officers were taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital and are expected to recover. The suspect was also taken to Saint Barnabas where he remains in serious condition after being struck as both officers returned fire.

The incident unfolded in the Bronx in the 48th Precinct. The suspect was sitting on the stoop of an apartment when he was approached by the two officers. The suspect said very little after being approached and immediately drew the weapon.

“From beginning to end, it probably lasted for two to three seconds,” Shea said. The suspect almost immediately pulled a handgun and opened fire as a struggle with the perpetrator ensued. The perpetrator was struck three times by the officers’ return gunfire. Shea says the bullet that struck one officer near the armpit was within inches of a more tragic outcome.

The second officer was struck in the right arm. According to Shea, the suspect had a lengthy criminal history and was in possession of a stolen handgun. Commissioner Shea says the handgun was reported stolen last year in Georgia and made its way to New York.

DML: ENOUGH of this war on America’s police officers!

4 – Levi Strauss offers employees session with ‘racial trauma specialist’ over Rittenhouse acquittal
Fox Business reports: Levi Strauss & Co. reached out to its U.S. employees offering individual counseling and promoting a forthcoming session with a “racial trauma specialist” to “help promote safety, sharing and to encourage healing” following the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, the company confirmed to FOX Business on Wednesday.

Levi’s chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, Elizabeth Morrison, sent an email following the verdict that began, “With the news that Kyle Rittenhouse was not convicted in the shooting of three individuals – two of whom lost their lives – during racial justice protests last year, this is a difficult day for many.”

Morrison added, “Dr. J and I will talk about the mental and psychical impacts of back-to-back social and racial justice events and trauma coping mechanisms during our discussion.”

The Levi’s executive went on to encourage individual counseling sessions for employees who need them, before sharing “resources to help [employees] impact social justice, equality and drive positive change” such as “getting educated and informed on the issue of gun violence” and “reaching out to your elected officials to let them know just how important common-sense gun laws are to you.”

DML: Absolute insanity!

5 – Woman with spina bifida sues mom’s doctor for millions, says she never should have been born
The New York Post reports: An English woman with spina bifida is suing her mother’s former doctor for millions of dollars in health care costs and damages claiming that she should never have been born.

Evie Toombes, a 20-year-old equestrian show jumper from Lincolnshire, is suing her mother’s general practitioner, Dr. Philip Mitchell, for   “wrongful conception” after he allegedly failed to advise her mother to take folic acid supplements before getting pregnant that she claims resulted in her birth defect, according to The Telegraph.

Toombes was diagnosed with lipomyelomeningocele after her birth in November 2001, a neural tube defect to the spine. Her bones never properly developed along her spinal cord causing permanent disability.

She claims that her mother never would have had her if her doctor had informed her that she needed to take folic acid supplements to minimize the chances of the defect affecting her baby.

DML: Just can’t make this stuff up, folks!!
