1. Orange County Democrats call for John Wayne Airport to be renamed
The Hill reports: Democratic officials in Orange County, Calif., are calling for John Wayne Airport to be renamed amid resurfacing racial comments the late Western movie star made decades ago.
On Friday, the Democratic Party of Orange County passed a resolution condemning the Duke for his past “racist and bigoted statements” he made during an interview with “Playboy” in 1971, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The resolution called for the Orange County Board of Supervisors to remove Wayne’s name, statue, and other likenesses from the international airport and “restore its original name: Orange County Airport.”
2. Cutler gives great tips on engaging in civil debate with others who have opposite political views
In a recent exclusive news broadcast to TeamDML.com subscribers, retired INS agent, immigration expert and TeamDML contributor Michael Cutler said it can be frustrating to try to have a conversation with people who are on the other side of the aisle politically. Cutler then suggested a way to meet someone in the middle – just let them talk, and listen. He explained that when you challenge a belief that someone has, they go on defense, adding “and so do we.” WATCH his powerful message in the video below:
3. Elderly Black lady pleads with protesters to leave Emancipation monument alone
An elderly Black lady, identified as Marcia Cole, a member of the Female RE-Enactors of Distinction (FREED), stood up before a crowd of protesters with a megaphone Friday evening and explained to them why they must abandon their goal to tear down the Emancipation Monument in Lincoln Park.
“I have made it my mission to protect that statue. We need light and not hate,” she told them. She warned that if the statue is torn down, and “you remove all images of slavery, it will be like it never happened.” The crowd heckled and mocked her words of wisdom. WATCH:
4. Private Security Given To Minneapolis City Council Members Who Support Defunding The Police
The Daily Caller reports: Minneapolis is spending $4,500 a day on private security for three city council members who support defunding the police after allegedly receiving threats, a local report published Friday showed.
Private security details cost Minneapolis taxpayers roughly $63,000 over the past three weeks, a spokesman for the city said, according to a Fox 9 report. Council members Andrea Jenkins, Phillipe Cunningham and Alondra Cano are outspoken supporters of efforts to defund the Minneapolis Police Department, the report stated.
Minneapolis’s city council began pushing to defund the police after former police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with murder for the death of George Floyd, a black man who died May 25 in Minneapolis police custody.
5. Readers respond on DML’s poll about fewer police in American cities
After being thrown under the bus by liberal politicians who call for defunding and dismantling the police, and the physical and verbal attacks by violent protesters, many police officers nationwide are calling it quits. We asked in a poll Saturday morning whether you feel fewer police officers will cause crime rates to rise or fall?
One reader, Patricia, responded, “I will never feel safe to travel this country again.” Cheryl said, “This question is a no brainer. We are going to need Batman to come and save Gotham City now.” And a response from Katrina caught our eye. She wrote, ” One can only imagine what the future will be if these politicians get their way and continue to cut back and eliminate the police. America as we know it will be gone, no more public safety and no more history.”
