Today is November 4 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. 1 – BREAKING: OSHA vaccine mandate to target large employers Jan. 4
The Associated Press reports: Tens of millions of Americans who work at companies with 100 or more employees will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jan. 4 or get tested for the virus weekly under government rules that took effect Thursday.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said companies that fail to comply could face penalties of nearly $14,000 per violation.
The new requirements, which were first previewed by President Joe Biden in September, will apply to about 84 million workers at medium and large businesses, although it is not clear how many of those employees are unvaccinated.
Tougher rules will apply to another 17 million people who work in nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities that receive money from Medicare and Medicaid. Those workers will not have an option for testing and will need to be vaccinated.
DML: Bring on the lawsuits! Enough is ENOUGH!
2 – Former Obama advisor says she fears GOP is becoming the ‘party of the parents’
Fox News reports: Former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter sounded the alarm on the power of parents in the Republican Party following Glenn Youngkin’s win over Democrat Terry McAuliffe Tuesday night.
Several analysts credited a parental uprising in Virginia as part of the catalyst for Youngkin’s surprise win against McAuliffe, who previously served as governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018. Across the state, parents confronted local school boards about critical race theory curricula and argued for more of a say in their children’s education.
According to Cutter, Democrats have to abruptly stem the trend and remind voters that they are the “party of the parents.”
“The one thing that we need to make sure of is that Republicans in 2022 don’t become is the party of parent, because we need to be the party of the parents,” Cutter said Wednesday on MSNBC. “And we are. We’re the ones that care about school funding. We’re the ones that care about making sure parents can send their kids to school because they have jobs to go to. All of this. We need to own that agenda. We cannot let it go.”
Twitter users are responding in droves, with many saying, “Too late!” Others are slamming Democrats as the “party of Planned Parenthood,” the “party of abortion,” and the party who “hates kids.”
DML: Lady, one thing the Democrat Party is NOT is the “party of parents.” They’ve already proved that, and parents across the nation are WAKING UP!
3 – Carville blames ‘stupid wokeness’ for Democratic losses
The Hill reports: Democratic political strategist James Carville blamed his party’s recent losses and weak performance in state elections on “stupid wokeness” on Wednesday.
“PBS NewsHour” host Judy Woodruff asked Carville what went wrong for the Democratic Party in the Virginia gubernatorial race in which Republican Glenn Youngkin beat former Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
“What went wrong is just stupid wokeness. Don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean, this ‘defund the police’ lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools. I mean that — people see that,” Carville said.
“It’s just really — has a suppressive effect all across the country on Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a ‘woke’ detox center or something,” he added. “They’re expressing a language that people just don’t use, and there’s backlash and a frustration at that.”
DML: Dems and their ‘wokeness’ are trying to fundamentally transform America.
4 – House GOP introducing bill to block reported Biden plan to pay illegal immigrants up to $450K
Fox News reports: Republicans in the House on Thursday will introduce a bill to block a reported plan by the Biden administration to pay millions of dollars to illegal immigrants separated under the Trump administration – as President Biden has sought to dismiss the reports.
Rep. Tom McClintock, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, will introduce the Illegal Immigration Payoff Prohibition Act, which amends 18 USC 2414 – which gives the attorney general the authority to enter settlement agreements.
The bill would block the attorney general from making any settlement payments to illegal immigrants that directly arise from their violation of immigration laws, including laws that criminalize illegal border crossings and that make a migrant inadmissible for attempting to enter a country illegally at a port of entry.
The bill is co-sponsored by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan and 135 other members, and it represents a coordinated effort by House Republicans to block a reported plan by the Biden administration to pay $450,000 per migrant who was separated under the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy
(On Wednesday, Joe Biden, when asked about the proposal, seemed unaware of it and said the report was garbage.)
(The ACLU fired back, saying, “Biden may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his own DOJ as it carefully considered the crimes committed against thousands of families.”)
DML: Biden has no idea what his own administration is even doing! Over 80 million people voted for THIS?
5 – Vaccine mandate for KIDS: San Francisco will force children as young as FIVE to show proof of vaccination to enter indoor venues like restaurants and gives parents a two month DEADLINE
The Daily Mail reports: San Francisco has been furiously condemned over its plan to mandate COVID vaccines for children aged five to 11 – even though no one under the age of 20 has been killed by the virus in the city.
Figures from San Francisco’s official COVID tracker show that out of the 664 citizens that have succumbed to the disease since it surfaced in the states nearly two years ago, none have been aged 21 or older.
What’s more, only 1,529 kids in the city have come down with the virus in that span. According to the latest data from the CDC, less than 700 US citizens under the age of 18 have died from the virus – with only 206 of them being under the age of five.
With that said, children aged five to 11 will still be forced to prove they are vaccinated if they want to enter restaurants and entertainment venues in San Francisco, officials said Tuesday.
The city became the first in the country to impose strict vaccine mandates for indoor venues in August for all children and adults over 12. Now, city officials plan to extend such requirements to children as young as five and made the announcement at a town hall meeting Tuesday, the same day the CDC granted emergency approval for that age group to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech shot.
San Francisco Health Officer Susan Philip said the city would give children roughly two months to get fully vaccinated before they must show their vaccination passports or be turned away from local establishments.
