DML Morning Briefing Dec 29

DML Morning Briefing December 29th: A miracle in Kansas, or was it something more specific?

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is December 29 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. And don’t forget to download the free DML App from the Google Play or Apple App Store to remain connected to me throughout the day.

1. A miracle in Kansas, or was it something more specific?
Typically, the DML Morning Briefing offers 5 national news stories and my commentary on each. This morning, it’s going to be different. This morning you get one story, and it’s by no means national (although it should be).  You won’t learn of this story anywhere but on The DML News App. The DML Morning briefing for Dec 29 is dedicating the entire column to one story that took shape in Kansas.

This is a story about COVID, hospitalization, CBD and prayers answered. This story is very close to me and every detail is from the source, and it’s in real time.

On or about Dec 12, a dear friend of mine (Annie) told me her husband had come down with COVID. He is in his late 50’s, and he is relatively healthy. Overall he’s an active guy and is of normal weight for a man of his height. For sake of simplicity, and the sake of privacy, I will not share his full name.  I will simply refer to him as Glen.

After a few days of being COVID positive, on Dec 16, Glen took a turn for the worse. Annie sent me a text message stating she took him to the ER. She said Glen was admitted and put into isolation. She wrote, “They’re keeping him for a few days to give him a Remdesivir infusion. He’s going to be fine, but it’s a bit scary.”

Glen, like many people who are hospitalized because of COVID, was having multiple issues. The most serious was trouble breathing. He was put on oxygen and monitored closely.  Sadly, with each passing day he appeared to get worse.

Rewinding here a little… On or about December 16, Annie had ordered a 3-pack of DML CBD POWER.

On our Dec. 22 phone call, Annie said the doctor was highly concerned, Glen was getting seriously worse. He told her, “Start saying prayers for him.”

Glen’s lungs were inflamed. Annie said he was having a cytokine storm, which is the immune system’s way of overcompensating for an agent it cannot defeat.  When a cytokine storm happens, typically the lungs will inflame and the body will eventually shut down.  Cytokine storms are what often lead to death in COVID patients.

Annie asked the doctor if she could bring Glen a few bottles of DML CBD POWER — she said she believed it would help the lungs battle the storm.  The doctor did not disagree; he honored her request.  Having not spoke to the doctor myself, I don’t know what influenced his decision.  Maybe he read the National Institute of Health’s publication in which they state “CBD promotes host cell interferon responses and inhibits viral induction of cytokines.”
